The government will lay the regulations for simpler annual pension benefit statements and legislate for a “statement season”, pensions and financial inclusion minister Guy Opperman has confirmed.

Speaking virtually at the Pension and Lifetime Savings Association's annual conference yesterday (12 October), Opperman said the government was looking to build on the success of auto-enrolment with the implementation of new measures to improve saver outcomes. "Due to the successes of auto-enrolment millions of individuals and now workplace pensions, it is vitally important they engage with, understand, and work at their plan for retirement in that is appropriate for them," he said.
