JPMorgan Emerging EMEA Securities announces proceedings to restrain VTB Bank

Following on from its previous announcements regarding the two lawsuits filed by VTB Bank in Russia claiming $81.3 million and $74.5 million against eight J.P. Morgan legal entities and JPMorgan Emerging Europe, Middle East & Africa Securities (JEMA) – click here to see our coverage of the last announcement – JEMA’s board says that it has received the following update from its manager (in italics):

J.P. Morgan Securities plc and JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., London Branch have each commenced proceedings in the English court to restrain VTB Bank from pursuing the two lawsuits filed by VTB Bank in Russia claiming $81.3 million and $74.5 million against eight J.P. Morgan legal entities and JPMorgan Emerging Europe, Middle East & Africa Securities plc (JEMA). The English court has granted an interim injunction restraining VTB Bank from pursuing the two lawsuits pending a further hearing. We will provide further details as the situation develops.

JEMA’s board says that it will provide a further update in due course.
